PUNE, October, 2025: Odisha Naval Tata Grassroots Academy will take on Round Glass Academy in final of the the 9th SNBP All India (Boys Under-16) Hockey Tournament on Day-6 at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi, on Tuesday.
On Monday, defending champs Round Glass put aside Gumanhera Academy 8-2 verdict, later Odisha Naval Tata Grassroots Academy rolled into their maiden final downing last year runners up Army Boys Sports Company 6-4. This was, the first final for Naval Tata after having making four visits to the city previously. The star of the game was Karan Tigga who netted four goals.
In the first semifinal, Odisha Naval Tata Grassroots Academy, made their debut in the final, after beginning the game as an attacking unit against Army Boys Sports Company. Naval Tata’s efforts bore fruit when they forced and converted their first penalty-corner through Karan Tigga (5’), Later Ashik Surin (9’) netted a field-goal, while Karan Tigga (22’) added another from a penalty-corner. The first-half ended 3-0 in favour of Naval Tata.
Changing ends, Army Boys proved a dominant force and scored thrice in the third quarter. The first was a penalty-corner by skipper Arjun (39’), then Sahil Kumar (40’) and Arjun (51’) off penalty-corners to level scores 3-3.
In the fourth-quarter, Naval Tata once again shifted gears to add three more goals through Karan Tigga (47’), Ashik Surin (51’) and Karan Tigga (53’) to turn tables into a (6-3) scoreline. Army Boys had the last laugh pulling one back through Arjun (57’) to rest the final scoreline 4-6.
The second semi-final, had Round Glass Academy put on a solid show initially and carve a 8-2 verdict over Gumanhera Hockey Academy. Round Glass scored through Varinder Singh (9’, 34’, 48’), Arshdip Singh (13’), Romit Pal (14’, 36’) and Arshpreet Singh (23’, 27’) while Gumanhera Academy pulled two back via Siddharth Raju (12.) and Sushant Sherawat (52’).
