Ranaragini Branch Empowers Women with Self-Defense Training; Demands Anti-‘Love Jihad’ Law

To awaken self-confidence and valor among women in the face of rising atrocities, the Ranaragini Branch of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organized ‘Shastra Pujan’ (weapon worship) and ‘Self-Defense Training’ demonstrations at various locations across the state. These initiatives aimed to empower women on physical, mental, and spiritual levels, enhance their organizational strength, and boost their morale to fight against injustice. In Jalgaon, young women submitted a memorandum to BJP MLA Sureshmama Bhole, demanding the swift implementation of an anti-‘Love Jihad’ law in Maharashtra. Similar memorandums are being submitted to various public representatives across the state.

On the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, upholding the tradition of Shakti worship, the Ranaragini Branch organized programs statewide. These events featured the worship of traditional weapons such as swords, ‘dandpatta’, spears, and daggers. Based on the concept ‘Main hoon Durga’ (‘I am Durga’), the programs aimed to make women aware of their latent power. On this occasion, activists of the Ranaragini Branch demonstrated self-defense techniques, including Karate, ‘Lathikathi’, and Judo. Women were taught how to counter sudden attacks and protect themselves. The objective behind this training is to build self-confidence in women, making them self-reliant and fearless.

Kum. Pratiksha Korgaonkar of the Ranaragini Branch stated, “Today’s woman is not weak; she is a form of Goddess Durga. To stop the injustice and atrocities against women in society, it is the need of the hour for every woman to become capable of protecting herself, rather than solely relying on the law. The Ranaragini Branch is awakening this very valor and courage in women through self-defense training. Our goal is to create a fearless society by empowering women not just physically, but also mentally and spiritually.”

These initiatives received an enthusiastic response from women and young girls across the state. Many women expressed their resolve to learn self-defense. Attendees noted that these programs were highly effective in uniting women and boosting their self-confidence.
