Pune: Army Institute of Technology Pune organized ‘Alchemy 2024’, an intercollegiate competition platform for the students to showcase their talent in Cultural, Technical, and Sports events. Alchemy 2024, is a combination of three major events which were SOLUTIONS, PACE, and AMETHYST.
A SOLUTIONS is a technical competition platform consisting of 33 events, like Robo Race, Robo Clench, Drone Drag, Shortest Code, Bike Show, Cyber Security, Robo Wars, Model making, etc. A total of 2500 students from 40 plus colleges including 7 from foreign countries such as the US and UK, 7 IITs, and 5 IIITs participated in these events.
A PACE had an array of sporting activities, comprising 11 sports disciplines along with 5 mini-games which included Football, Basketball, Kabaddi, Squash, Long Tennis, Table Tennis, Cricket, etc. An Amethyst had 13 cultural events: Street Play, Gen B.C Joshi Quiz, Battle of Bands, Esmeralda, Art Attack, etc.
Indian archer & bronze medal winner in Men’s Recurve Archery at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, Atul Verma inaugurated the festival. Verma said Sports help us to move ahead in life and keep all of us motivated. Sports are important to boost our confidence and maintain our mental and physical health.
Director of the institute Brig. Abhay Bhat (Retd) said that organizing such intercollegiate events is a great learning of organizational skills for students. The sport aims to increase friendship.
Winners in Sports events like Cricket (Boys & Girls) – AIT Pune, Basketball (Girls)- MIT WPU Pune, Volleyball (Boys) – PICT Pune, Volleyball (Girls) – ZEAL COER Pune, Football (Boys) – NDA Pune, Kabaddi (boys) – MMCOE Pune, Squash (Boys) – Madhav Kumar (NDA).
Winners in Cultural events like Alankar (Singing Solo) – MIT ADT Pune, Singing duet – AFMC Pune, Esmeralda (Dance competition solo) – JSPM Pune, Dance competition (Duet) – AFMC Pune and Dance Competition (Group) – JSPM Pune. Winners in different technical events are from IIT Mandi, PICT, COEP, MIT ADT, Cummins COE, Sinhgad COE Pune besides AIT Pune. Prizes worth Rs 5.5 Lakhs were distributed to the winners in different events of Alchemy 2024.
Ms Summy Kalivaran, Indian Athlete, a two-time Junior World Champion was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution and closing ceremony. She said that nothing is impossible if you do hard work and smart work in life.
Col Manoj Kumar Prasad (Retd), Joint Director of AIT congratulated all the Winners and participants. He said that we are celebrating Alchemy as a function that will help students make new friends through such events and enhance the spirit of the sport by making them mentally robust and physically fit.
