PUNE, 4 October, 2025: JAI Hockey Academy stormed into the quarterfinals with a tournament record scoreline in the 9th SNBP All India (Boys Under-16) Hockey Tournament on Day-2 at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi.
In an encounter that had ten players of get their named on the scoresheet, the final scoreline of 22-1 helped JAL Hockey Academy take top spot in Group-F. The winners opened scoring as early as the eighth minute when Mohammad Arkam scored off a field goal. Thereafter goals rained for JAL Hockey Academy who had nine goals netted off penalty-corners, one came off a penalty stroke and twelve off field goals.
JAI Hockey Academy had Mohammad Arkam (8’, 47’, 50’, 52’) and Mohd. Sahil Khan 21’, 38’, 40’, 43’) score four-goals each, which were complemented by three-goals each by from Rajendra Niklehpal and Rishiraj Singh. A double strike by Deepak Kumar Patel and Shiva Chauhan, and a goal each by Abhishek Yadav, Ashish Rajbhar, Kundan Prakash, Yunus Khan score the huge tally.
Earlier, SAIL H.A had it easy by downing Grassroot Hockey-West Bengal 4-1 to earn a last-eight slot from Group-G. Meanwhile, R.K Roy Academy booked their slot in the knock outs by beating Friends Hockey Association 8-0.
Later, dark-horses SNBP Academy won 5-1 against NDMC H.A with Siddharth Thakur 12’, 53’; Atharva Kumar 3’; Jordan Desmond 18’, 42’ scoring and NDMC H.A: had Satpal Ishant (36’) pull one back.
