Pune: Rajya Sabha MP Prof. Dr. Medha Vishram Kulkarni has been conferred with the prestigious Sansad Ratna Award for her exemplary performance in the Parliament. The award, instituted by Prime Point Foundation, honours Members of Parliament for their outstanding contribution to parliamentary proceedings.
The felicitation ceremony took place at Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi, where Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju presented the award, which includes a citation, a memento, and a traditional shawl. The event was graced by National Commission for Backward Classes Chairman Hansraj Ahir, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, and MP Shrirang Barne, among others.
Now in its 15th edition, the Sansad Ratna Awards recognised 17 MPs this year for their parliamentary excellence. Dr. Kulkarni, a first-time Rajya Sabha member, stood out for her active and impactful participation, consistently raising pertinent issues related to national interest and public welfare.
Dr. Kulkarni has addressed several critical topics in the Parliament, including women’s health, rural development, education, social justice, and issues concerning the Waqf Board. In a recent session, she voiced concerns over the rising incidence of cancer among women in rural India, urging the government to implement preventive measures. She also contributed suggestions on the implementation of the National Education Policy.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Kulkarni said, “This recognition is not merely personal; it reflects the collective efforts to raise people’s concerns effectively in the temple of democracy. Receiving the Sansad Ratna Award in my very first term is an acknowledgment of the trust people have placed in me. I will continue to raise public-interest issues with conviction and clarity.”
Her selection among the top-performing Rajya Sabha MPs is a matter of pride for Maharashtra, particularly for Pune, highlighting the city’s growing presence in national leadership.
