Maharashtra organizations in the United Arab Emirates discuss collaborative development

The first quarterly meeting of the members of “United Maharashtra”, initiated by the Indian People’s Forum (Maharashtra Council), was recently held at Hotel Peshwa, Karama, Dubai.

Pune, 12 September 2025: ” Samyukta Maharashtra” is the concept of IPF Maharashtra Council President , Senior Entrepreneur and Social Advisor/Society Guide Shri Rahul Tulpule. This organization has been established to strengthen the Marathi community in the UAE by bringing together various social , cultural and business related Marathi organizations working in the UAE under one umbrella and on a common platform. Currently, 35 different organizations and groups operating across the United Arab Emirates are part of the Samyukta Maharashtra initiative , including some renowned organizations like Gulf Maharashtra Business Forum , Maharashtra Mandal Abu Dhabi , Maharashtra Mandal Dubai.

The concept was launched in Dubai earlier this year by Shri Ravindra Chavan. Under this initiative, the organization works for the approximately 400,000 non-resident Marathi people living in Dubai in various fields – providing support to domestic workers , empowering women housewives , helping Marathi people start their businesses , running weekly schools for children here , promoting a reading culture , preserving the cultural and religious heritage of Maharashtra , celebrating regional festivals and many more.

The key issues discussed in the meeting included developing an integrated global curriculum in Marathi language for non-resident children here that would also qualify them for college credits. All the organizations also highlighted the need for a dedicated space to organize local community activities at various levels here. There was also discussion on sending an inclusive and capable delegation from the UAE to the Marathi World Conference to be held in Nashik in December 2025. Plans to celebrate the classical language during the week of October as announced by the Maharashtra government were also discussed. It was also agreed to form a commodity trading task force of experienced professionals in the fruit and vegetable trade in the UAE to prepare a guidebook on market opportunities , regulations , compliance , best practices to support farmers in Maharashtra. This will help farmers in Maharashtra in exporting their produce to the UAE.

The Samyukta Maharashtra Initiative led by Smt. Neelam Nandekar also publishes a monthly calendar of events covering all 35 organizations which was highly appreciated by all group representatives. This spirit of cooperation – Ekmeka Sahay Karu Avghe Dharu Supanth – is helping all organizations reach a wider audience and making their activities more meaningful and accessible to the entire Marathi community.
