YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra from Haryana, accused of spying for Pakistan and sharing sensitive information, has faced a major blow. Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has suspended her Instagram account, and her YouTube channel may soon be blocked as well.
Jyoti allegedly maintained contact with Pakistani intelligence agents via Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Known for her glamorous reels and travel content, she had a significant online presence with 3.77 lakh (377K) subscribers on her YouTube channel ‘Travel with Jo’, and 1.32 lakh (132K) followers on Instagram.
Suspicious Meetings During Pakistan Visit
In 2023, Jyoti reportedly obtained a Pakistani visa through commission agents and traveled there. During her visit, she met with Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, an officer at the Pakistan High Commission, who was recently expelled from India. This information came to light during the police investigation.
Direct Links to Intelligence Networks?
Hisar SP Shashank Kumar Sawan stated that while Jyoti didn’t have direct access to military secrets, she was in contact with people linked to Pakistani intelligence agencies. He also mentioned that other social media influencers in touch with Jyoti might also be connected to similar networks.
According to police, this represents a form of digital warfare, where enemy agencies attempt to use influencers to spread their narratives against India through social media platforms.
