Bread : Rotten Bread Powder Sold to Hotels in Mumbai; Shocking Video Goes Viral

Mumbai : In Mumbai, bakery products are sold on a large scale across the city. Among them, bread is one of the most commonly sold items. However, bread usually remains fresh for only about 5 days. Naturally, this leads to a large quantity of spoiled or expired bread. A shocking revelation has now come to light — these spoiled breads are allegedly being repurposed and ending up on customers’ plates in hotels. A video exposing this practice is currently going viral on social media.

In certain areas of Mumbai and its suburbs, thousands of spoiled bread loaves are being collected. These breads, often lying unused for 15–20 days in bakeries, are in a decomposed state and infested with insects — making them unfit for consumption and destined for the trash. However, instead of being discarded, these rotten breads are ground into powder.

This bread powder is packed in one-kilogram packets and sold to various hotels. Shockingly, this powder is then used in the preparation of gravies and chutneys served to customers. The viral video revealing this practice has created a stir among citizens and raised serious food safety concerns.

Authorities and consumers are now demanding immediate investigation and action, as the video continues to circulate widely on social media.
