Digital payments have become an essential part of everyday life — from buying vegetables to recharging a DTH connection, most transactions today happen via UPI. To enhance user convenience, PhonePe has introduced a brand-new feature called ‘UPI Circle’.
This innovative feature allows users to authorize family members or friends (called secondary users) to make payments directly from their UPI account, without requiring the secondary user to have a bank account of their own.
How Does It Work?
Imagine your wife is out shopping but doesn’t have enough funds in her UPI wallet. With UPI Circle, she can make payments directly from your UPI account using her own phone.
> Key Highlights of the Feature:
> Secondary users can spend up to ₹15,000 per month and ₹5,000 per transaction.
> Two delegation options:
> Auto Approval – No permission needed for each transaction.
> Manual Approval – Primary user’s permission required for every transaction.
> Primary user can add up to 5 secondary users.
> Primary users receive alerts for every transaction made.
> How to Activate the Feature:
> Open the PhonePe app.
> Click on ‘UPI Circle’.
> Enter the secondary user’s UPI ID or scan their QR code.
> Choose the type of delegation and send the request.
> Once the secondary user accepts, the setup is complete.
> Authentication is required via passcode or biometrics for every transaction.
