India tops globally in terms of juvenile diabetics, a concerning stat that must be promptly addressed as a nation. Hence, on the occasion of World Diabetes Day and Children’s Day this year; ‘Abhilaasha’ – a thought-provoking short film aimed at raising awareness about juvenile diabetes, was inaugurated at the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) on Law College Road in Pune. The film, supported by FFPL and directed by Rahul Panshikar, addresses growing concern over the rise of diabetes among children – a condition largely linked to sedentary lifestyles, busy parental schedules, and unhealthy habits.

‘Abhilaasha’ showcases the impact of modern lifestyle changes on our children’s health, with a focus on parental neglect due to their busy work schedules, and children’s growing dependence on digital gadgets to bide time. The film also interestingly highlights the declining role of grandparents in today’s modern family, which follows a more nuclear setup. Traditionally, grandparents used to be a source of discipline, and affection that has now been replaced by mere indulgence.

Fleetguard Filters Private Limited (FFPL) President – Mr. Sanjay Kulkarni, who also plays the doctor in the short-film, reiterated the importance of instilling healthy eating habits and regular physical exercise in children at the launch. He stated, “Developing healthy eating habits and physical activity play a significant role in preventing lifestyle-linked diseases such as diabetes. Discipline begins at home, and parents must always lead by example.”

FFPL has always been dedicated to creating meaningful social change through its various CSR initiatives. The company majorly focuses on four key areas: Health & Safety; Education & Promotion of Art & Culture; Environment & Local Community Infrastructure Development & Social Justice.

By supporting ‘Abhilaasha,’ FFPL has focused on promoting health and wellness in the community this time. The company’s CSR efforts are particularly focused on improving the quality of life for local communities near its operational bases. Through various initiatives, FFPL has positively impacted numerous lives across India, addressing key societal challenges and supporting livelihoods. Driven by the belief that charity begins at home, FFPL continues to work towards enhancing the well-being of communities while fostering social transformation.
