20th March, 2024: Hockey Maharashtra thrilled the patient and anxious turnout with a 2-1 win over Hockey Manipur to enter the semifinal.
In the last quarter-final of the day, Hockey Maharashtra shone under lights, dominating the first half but falling shy on scoring.
Five penalty corners in the first two quarters showed their domination. At halftime, the score remained 0-0.
Two minutes after the break, Hockey Maharashtra had Priyanka Wankhede slot home past goalkeeper Kharibam Bichu Devi to lead 1-0.
Hockey Maharashtra doubled the advantage 13 minutes later when Priyanka Wankhede was in action again, this time off the sixth penalty corner. Her hit was clean and on the boards, much to the delight of the crowd.
Late in the match, Hockey Manipur pushed hard and reduced the margin through Lily Chanu Mayengbam (60th).
