JBG Satara Hill Half Marathon – India’s third largest half marathon back with bang in its 12th edition

Pune, 30 August 2023 : The 12th edition of the highly anticipated JBG Satara Hill Half Marathon (SHHM) organised by Satara Runners Foundation, a non-profit organization, is all set to bring together running enthusiasts from across the country on September 3rd, 2023. With a record-breaking total of 7,500 registrations, this event stands as India’s third-largest half marathon and is considered to be one of the toughest in the country. The theme for this year’s marathon is “Sarve Dhavakaha Kutumbakam” or “All Runners Are One Family”. This theme aims to foster a sense of unity among athletes emphasising on  a collective pursuit of wellness. The event is proudly presented by the Jai Balaji Group as the title sponsor, powered by Skechers.

Incepted in 2012 by Dr Sandeep Kate,  JBG Satara Hill Half Marathon is one of the largest  community-organised marathon events in India and has made a mark for itself by securing a title of “The most people in single mountain run” in the Guinness Book of World records. With a rich legacy, JBG SHHM has earned its place as the third-largest event in India after the Tata Mumbai Marathon and the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon. Boasting a remarkable 5612 determined finishers, it proudly holds the second-highest number of female runners among marathons in the country. Many renowned personalities like IG Krishna Prakash and Vishwas Nangre Patil have been a part of the earlier editions and this year too, the marathon will see dignitaries and notable personalities like IG Krishna Prakash, IG Ravinder Singal, SP of Satara Police Samir Shaikh, Satara Civil Surgeon Dr Yuvaraj Karpe  participating in this adventurous run.

The upcoming marathon will feature an “Out & Back” course that kicks off from the Satara Police Parade ground. The event is scheduled from 6:30 am to 10:30 am. The event has received 7500+ participation from all across the country. The event rewards participants with various accolades based on their finish times, adding an element of achievement to the endeavour.

The funds raised through SHHM are channelled towards enhancing the participant experience, including a 16-week training program and event memorabilia. Moreover, the event contributes to the community by establishing open gyms and street workout stations in Satara, fostering a culture of fitness and well-being. So far, SHHM has seen 20,000 + unique runners, 36.5% repeat runners, 35,000 + visit websites during registration days and 600 + members and volunteers who have been supporting the run. Satara runners’ foundation will host a pre-event SHHM expo on 1 and 2 September, 2023 (2 days) for Local Runners and Outstation Runners respectively for runners to collect their Race Kit/BIB.  Running towards a global community, the JBG Satara Hill Half Marathon boasts its membership in the esteemed Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
