Budget 2025: Middle-Class Relief, Tourism Growth, and Missed Opportunities for Food Processing Sector

The Union Budget 2025 has brought significant relief to the middle class by exempting income tax up to ₹ 12 lakh, which will increase disposable income and stimulate economic activity. The focus on developing tourism sites linked to Gautam Buddha’s life is a commendable step towards employment generation and positioning India as a global center of peace and cultural heritage.

Prioritizing agriculture, MSMEs, infrastructure, and middle-class welfare addresses key growth areas. However, GST relief and credit support for the food processing and bakery sector were missed opportunities. We hope this will be offset by increased consumer spending driven by lower tax rates for the salaried class.
