Mumbai, October 9, 2026: What if the small choices you make every day could add years to your life? The walk you almost skipped, the extra hour of sleep, the health check-up you kept postponing.
That is the premise behind Tata AIA Vitality, the wellness engine at the heart of Tata AIA Life Insurance’s newly relaunched Vitality offering.
Research has shown that people who consistently build healthier habits can potentially add up to 5 years* to their life expectancy. Since first introducing Vitality to India in 2022, Tata AIA Life Insurance has been bringing that science to Indian customers. The programme now returns with a sharper focus on longevity, easier ways to earn rewards and richer benefits.
The science behind the promise
The five-year figure comes from Vitality’s global research. A seven-year study of around 465,000 Vitality members, peer-reviewed by the London School of Economics, found that people who moved from an inactive lifestyle to an active one could reduce their risk of death by up to 57%.
That is equivalent to adding up to five years to their life expectancy. The gains held across ages 30 to 70, and even members who were active just one or two days a week added more than two years. This is why Tata AIA Vitality now rewards members from 5,000 daily steps: small, consistent changes make a real difference.
*Based on Vitality UK analysis of members who moved from 0 to 21+ activity points a week, applied to standard UK mortality rates. Refers to the average increase in life expectancy. Individual outcomes may vary.

The same study was done for Indian population for both male & female customer base covering age brackets 20 to 60 & factors such as physical inactivity, poor diet, smoking, alcohol, sleep.

The five-year promise: how it adds up
The longevity benefit doesn’t come from a single decision. It comes from sustained, everyday habits:
- Move more: Regular physical activity, tracked through steps, workouts and heart rate.
- Know your numbers: Annual health checks and screenings that catch risks early.
- Mind your mind: Mental health assessments with personalised, risk-based guidance.
- Track your progress: Vitality Age compares a member’s body age with their actual age, so they can watch the gap close as their habits improve.
How the journey works
Tata AIA Vitality is designed so that the motivation to get healthy doesn’t have to come from willpower alone — it’s built into the programme from day one.
- Rewarded from day one: Members get discounts on athleisure, footwear, fitness wearables and gym memberships from partners including Decathlon, Puma, Google, FitPass and cult fit. They don’t have to wait for results first.
- Every healthy action earns points: Walks, workouts and health checks move members up through four Vitality Status tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
- Healthy habits lower renewal costs: At renewal, a member’s Vitality Status earns them premium discounts,
- What’s new: easier to start, easier to sustain
- Lower step goals: Members now earn points from 5,000 daily steps, down from 7,500, because consistency matters more than intensity.
- Health Connect integration: Steps, heart rate and other health data are tracked more reliably.
- Instant gratification to customer
- Enhanced renewal premium discounts
