India is witnessing a sharp rise in interest for solar energy solutions, in sync with the country’s renewable energy push. Insights from Justdial, India’s no.1 local search engine, reveal a massive surge in searches for solar panel dealers and cleaning services between April–June 2025 (AMJ), compared with both the previous quarter (JFM’25) and the same period last year (AMJ’24).

Pan-India searches for solar panel dealers jumped 173% YoY and 77% QoQDelhi and Patna led the surge, with queries rising to 11 times higher YoY, while Patna saw searches grow 19 times compared to the previous quarter. Searches in Chennai and Hyderabad were 5 times higher than the same period last year, with Hyderabad also reporting 130% QoQ growth. Indore registered 197% YoY growth with searches rising 3 times QoQ. Other key markets such as Jaipur, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow also recorded strong momentum.

Alongside installation, consumers are increasingly focusing on maintenance and efficiency. Searches for solar panel cleaning services doubled YoY across India, with Delhi (+92%), Lucknow (+77%), Ahmedabad (+63%), and Vadodara (+43%) reporting the highest demand momentum. This underscores growing awareness of long-term upkeep for efficiency and durability.

The surge in consumer interest coincides with India achieving 100 GW of domestic solar PV module manufacturing capacity in 2025, up from just 2.3 GW in 2014. This milestone, enabled by government policies such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, positions India as a global solar leader.

These behavioural shifts align with India’s broader renewable energy transition, and on this Akshay Urja Diwas, the celebration of 100 GW of solar manufacturing capacity underscores the nation’s accelerating adoption of clean energy solutions.
