Pune: Ambegaon Police have arrested three individuals allegedly carrying illegal firearms within the jurisdiction of Ambegaon Police Station. Police seized three country-made firearms and one live cartridge, collectively valued at ₹1,20,500. The operation was carried out by the investigation team under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zhine.
On August 10, 2026, police personnel Dnyaneshwar Chitte, Dhanaji Dhotre, Sachin Gade and Subhash More received confidential information that three individuals carrying firearms were present in an open area near Jambhulwadi Pazhar Lake, Jambhulwadi Road, Shantinagar, Ambegaon Khurd, Pune.
Acting on the information and following orders from senior officers, a team led by Assistant Police Inspector Mahesh Nayakvadi and Police Sub-Inspector Yuvraj Shinde laid a trap at the location. The police successfully detained the three suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajan Vinod Shah, Anil Kailas Chaudhary (26) and Pratham Arun Renuse (24). During the search, police recovered three country-made firearms and one live cartridge from their possession.
A case has been registered at Ambegaon Police Station under Crime No. 341/2026, invoking Section 3(25) of the Arms Act and Sections 37(1)(2)(3) read with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. All three accused have been arrested, and the court has granted police custody until August 14, 2026. Police are investigating the source of the firearms and the purpose for which they were allegedly being carried.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Darade, Additional Commissioner of Police Rajesh Bansode, Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mohite and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rahul Aware.
The operation was carried out by Senior Police Inspector Sharad Zhine, Police Inspector (Crime) Changdev Sajgane, Assistant Police Inspector Mahesh Nayakvadi, Police Sub-Inspector Yuvraj Shinde and the Ambegaon Police Station team.
